Quick update on tomorrow’s soaker and spring snowstorm.  Yes, from the winter that won’t die, another round of snow will make its way Thursday night into Friday across Ontario.  This time, Ottawa escapes most of the snow (I can hear the cheers).

Here is the total rainfall from the GFS model come Friday afternoonFriday rain

Some areas are picking up 2 to 3+inches of moisture.  Some of this will be in the form of snow on the backend of the storm as cold northerly air is drawn in. Since this occurs Thursday night the snow will accumulate in many areas (although it will be wet snow).

I think around the GTA (except Hamilton to the downtown lakeshore area) could get 2 -3 cm of slushy snow. I think 5 -10 cm north and west of the GTA is possible. Maybe 15+ cm in the areas higher elevations around Collingwood. 15 – 20 cms is possible around North Bay to Mattawa and Deep River area. Belleville to Ottawa should escape most of the snow since the cold doesn’t meet up with the heavier precp in time. Maybe some wet snow around this area on Friday but no real accumulations.

Here and here is a link to Bigmt’s posts on the storm for a more specific look from the models.

After this get ready for some warmth late weekend into early next week (some areas could see 20c) while it cools down closer to normal mid week into Easter.
